The symposium is initiated by physicists from Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Croatia, who are active in the area of theoretical/mathematical physics and experimental/applied physics. The participating universities in the Western Balkans are the University of Tuzla, University of Mostar, University of Banja Luka, University of Novi Sad, and University of Zagreb.
The symposium is, however, not focused on the exchange of frontline scientific ideas, but will promote and discuss the impact of science (natural sciences and social sciences) and technology on the society of the region. It will exemplify the connecting role of science in general as a role model for national and international cooperation.
The already existing connections in the area of physics will be used to establish a network that allows to bridge between the local universities in the region.
